It may be 25 years old next Year but The Path of Least Resistance is a masterpiece. A mixture of logic (common sense) and creative inspiration, the book invites you to reconnect with your natural power to create.

It deals with making Fundamental and Primary choices in your life which then underlay and drive your sub-conscious actions. Unlike many so-called self help gurus, Fritz tackles the fundamentals rather than the dressing. How you get to where you want to get is not dealt with – that will work itself out if your core self and primary choices are aligned – i.e. if you are working for yourself rather than against yourself. None of this is to say that anything will be easy, as this requires self-analysis and assessment of your current reality, not simply changing process.

Cool Stuff #43 File Renamer

Cool Stuff is Teimlo's blog series is to help you out by telling you about useful websites and applications that can help you and your business.

File Renamer is a program that allows you adjust several file names at once. This is a useful tool as it can enable the adjustment of certain characteristics of file names with one easy universal change. For example, you can select an entire folder of files to edit, or using a tick box method select as many as you like within a certain folder for editing. Some of the changes you can make are finding and replacing characters or words within file names, changing the case of the file names and adding a prefix or suffix. You are also even able to edit ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags. All these functions are available on the basic version of the software, which is free to download. The software is simple to use and avoids the time consuming task of manually adjusting each file name individually.

The software is available in 3 packages, the Basic (free), Regular ($10) or Deluxe ($19.95). The Deluxe package enables you to use functions such as ‘undo rename’ and the ‘drag and drop’ functionality. But please be sure to check the terms and conditions before paying. Cool Stuff #42 Media Converter

Mediaconverter.org is a great site allowing a user to upload any file or link from YouTube and have it converted to any format they in order to download it to their desktop. This functionality allows a user to paste the URL of their favorite YouTube video straight into the converter, and in a matter of minutes it can be converted into both mp3 and mp4 formats (along with other formats)ready to download. This means that those remixes or rare tracks that can’t be found anywhere else are available to all. There is a maximum of five files that can be converted for free each day, if you want any more then it comes at a premium. Be sure to read the terms before paying.

Cool Stuff #41 Mobyko

Cool Stuff is Teimlo's blog series is to help you out by telling you about useful websites and applications that can help you and your business.

Mobyko.com is a handy site that allows you to sync your mobile phone directly with your desktop PC, and in doing so, any photos, contacts and calendar entries are backed up online for you. This site also allows a user to send texts directly from their desktop to any contacts, and if you lose your phone, Mobyko.com allows you to sync all data with your new phone in only a few clicks! It's all done without the need for downloads, software or wires.

A Blooming great result from the Christian Resource Exhibition

A big thank you to Mary who attended the Christian Resource Exhibition between 12-15th May at Sandown Park Racecourse and took our sunflower challenge! As you can see below, her sunflowers have not only flourished, but have brought both a smile to her face and all of us here at Teimlo. So you want to change the world but don't quite know where to start? Michael Norton's book gives an idea a day, for a year. Each idea comes with an explanation of what it is and why it is relevant, together with links to supporting organisations and examples.

Some of the ideas are really really big - Boycott the USA - and slightly impractical. Some of the ideas are common sense for families at home - Stick 'Em Up (use less water and power). Some of them are astonishingly simple but grab your imagination - Guerilla Gardening - Bicycle Recycling - Anonymous Generosity.

We can't recommend this book highly enough. There is something for every family and every business that will let you make some changes in your lives that make a small difference. This can be done without mega sacrifice, to help make the world better. It put a smile on the reviewer's face and look out for page 195!

Cool Stuff #40 ColorCombos

Cool Stuff is Teimlo's blog series is to help you out by telling you about useful websites and applications that can help you and your business.

colorcombos.com is an excellent design resource that allows you to use either predefined colour combinations or to enter a colour as a name or hex and have it match up from the combos available. The site has other really useful features such as the service to input a url and have the colours from that site matched for you. We really rate this as a tremendous tool for website & html colour work.

Hiring by Text

We've had quite a week at Teimlo. A while ago we came up with the idea of hiring our new marketing head by text message - well at least making a text application the first stage of the process. This has been picked up by the press (thanks guys) and extensively covered.

The viral version of the advert is as follows:

"We need a marketer. Text JOB + y it should b u to 82088. 160 characters 2 make an impression! Cost 1 std rate txt , UK only. C teimlo.com"

As a mobile services provider we constantly need to innovate on behalf of our customers and this is an example of how we can do it. In this case however, the interest has gone further and the whole job by text idea has been extensively re-tweeted and blogged about with a lot of interest about the kinds of replies we will get and about the outcomes.

We don't know the outcome as the campaign will run for another month, but will keep you all informed through this blog. Follow here, and follow Teimlo on Twitter to see how the hiring goes and if we get the person we need.
